And thank you Susan, I'll keep that in mind if Basenji comes up. That's one of the benefits (in theory) of doing these tests- you can be more aware of the specific health issues in the breeds they come from. Mutts tend to be healthier than their purebred ancestors though, so that's good.

Well, this is a bummer kind of comment, but I had just scrolled to the pics and when I saw the one of her on the Persian rug and you said "yodel, talk" and "hair stands up on her back" , well, my thought of Basenji was justified at least. Then I remembered this...so I decided to risk being a debbie downer and put this info here. Pog looks great, no matter which way the mutt-goodness goes! I am more impressed by doggie goodness, and all dogs have it, *all* of them, than by prizes, but...I am a knitter. Sending "all the best" for Pog and The Pack!
Here goes: "Fanconi syndrome, an inheritable disorder in which the kidneys fail to reabsorb electrolytes and nutrients, is unusually common in basenjis. Symptoms include excessive drinking, excessive urination, and glucose in the urine, which may lead to a misdiagnosis of diabetes. Fanconi syndrome usually presents between 4 and 8 years of age, but sometimes as early as 3 years or as late as 10 years. Fanconi syndrome is treatable and organ damage is reduced if treatment begins early. ..." That was from the dreaded Wikipedia.....

"...Fanconi's syndrome appears to have a hereditary predisposition for Basenjis as well as Norwegian Elkhounds. Other breeds that are predisposed (to a lesser degree) are Shetland sheepdogs and Schnauzers. The onset of the disease is not until later in life (3-11 yrs of age in Basenjis), and thus affected dogs may have been bred before diagnosis, passing on the genetic trait.6 Approximately 10% of adult Basenjis have Fanconi’s syndrome.6 The acquired form of Fanconi’s syndrome can be caused by heavy metal poisoning (lead, mercury, cadmium and uranium). Drugs such as a gentamicin,5 cephalosporins, outdated tetracycline, cisplatin, and streptozotocin can cause proximal renal tubule resorption abnormalities.4 Chemicals such as Lysol® and maleic acid also have been reported to cause the syndrome.4 Renal cystic disease and neoplasia,3 including multiple myeloma and monoclonal gammopathies, also have been found to cause acquired Fanconi’s syndrome.4 "

One thing's for sure, Pog is adorable!

I'm not good at this, so I won't even bother w/percentages. I think there's some Pit Bull, judging by the mouth, so I'll throw in "Staffordshire Terrier" and "American Bulldog". The body looks so long & lean that I think there's some Greyhound in the mix. Possibly some lab?

Though I doubt I've got a winning answer (I WISH, the yarn has me drooling), I will still be curious to see what makes up your darling Pog.
