The delightful folks at
The Fibre Company/Kelbourne Woolens have just released
Kelbourne Woolens Vol. 1, a compendium of some of their favorite patterns, and have invited me to take part in their very cool "style your favorite garment from the book"
blog tour!!
Of course I picked one of the hats,
Kiva Hattu by Courtney Kelley. As far as I'm concerned, you're never fully dressed without a hat.
And as soon as I figured out how the heck Polyvore works, I went fantasy shopping...
Obviously any fantasy shopping that I do is going to involve brown leather coats, Fluevog boots, and a puppy. (Don't pretend you're surprised. I tried to pick one who looked kinda like Rupert, hehe.) I would wear the bajeezus out of this outfit, For. Sure.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
Want to get your mitts on this Kelbourne collection? All you have to do is comment on this post and two days from now, we'll select someone at random to receive a copy of the collection!
(And you can style your FOs however you like... but I think you should keep the pomeranian. Just a suggestion.)
In the meantime, this Polyvore thing is kinda fun... I might have to do this for, like, um, everything I've ever designed. Eep!
Love the brown jacket! Unfortunately I'm more of a cat person but I hear they're anti-leash unless you want claw marks on your face.
ReplyDeleteThey can be very difficult to accessorize. Unless it's this cat: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/my-pimp-paw-is-strong
DeleteI love the pomeranian, but I too have a cat who would object.
ReplyDeletethe collection's wonderfully nice and springy! and Polyvore looks oh so addictive, I'm not sure if I dare start fantasy shopping.
ReplyDeleteI love that you gave the dog a collar. That hat is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cute! Try not to fall down the rabbit hole where you try to put all of your clothes into Polyvore outfits. I heard that that's crazymaking. From a friend.
ReplyDeleteThe temptation to locate every article of clothing I own (or an approximation) and put it in "my objects" and obsessively plan every outfit I wear is... well, it's present. Haha.
DeletePolyvore is a lot of fun. I love the look you put together!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could handle fantasy shopping, unless there's already a 10 step program to quit put in place! Thought the dog was a nice touch, but I too, am a cat person but they don't go with as many outfits! Maybe a boston terrier would suit me better...
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm searching for a perfect brown jacket.....
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous hat... and great styling! Polyvore seems like something I definitely need to stay away from if I want to keep up with my knitting :)
ReplyDeleteI would not object to you doing this for all of your patterns... I think it would be HIGHLY entertaining and I am just going to go ahead and say you should do it!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll definitely do a few, it's funnn :-)
DeleteI introduced myself to Polyvore this week and it was an amazing time suck! It was so much fun to style my friend's knit pieces!! I think it would be awesome if you did it for all of your patterns! :)
ReplyDeletelove the sunglasses...definitely will complete the outfit
ReplyDeleteThis does look like a fabulous collection.
ReplyDeleteHow about Gunther the angora rabbit on the leash? With a name like Gunther, you know he can rock any look he wants.
ReplyDeleteI have really wanted to try Polyvore throughout this blog tour, but just haven't had the time! Of course, the collection is fabulous, as is the outfit.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I love the boots you chose! Reminds me I need to dig out my own. Now that the weather is starting to pick up a bit I can get to wearing a whole collection of hats, instead of just the one that survives downpours and ridiculous gusts of wind.
ReplyDeleteMay have to stick to my own doggy though- being a Great Dane cross he could quite possibly sit and squash the Pom by accident!
That is such a cute hat.
ReplyDeleteaww I miss my Pomeranian
ReplyDeleteOOH, OOOH, OOOH - does the winner get the cute little doggy too???? Pick me, pick me. I love the hat and leather jacket, and could even go with the boots, but not sure I could squeeze my fat ass into those skinny jeans - but I know you would be totally rockin' this outfit Alex - I have seen you in my LYS IRL. I'll have to keep an eye for the book.
ReplyDeleteLisa a.k.a Finnknitter
I love the fact that you also styled the dog and included him a collar and a cute leash. Very thoughtful :)
ReplyDeleteThis collection looks amazing. I see quite a few things I want to make.
ReplyDeleteI like including the dog in the styling. I am resisting Polyvore because I think I would spend too much time there. I would love to win the book. My rav name is janineny2001.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the rosebud shawl from that collection. And the surfer hat. and... OK, they all look lovely!
ReplyDeleteI feel the need to add this book to my collection! PS - the pimp cat is probably the best thing I've seen all day lol!!!
ReplyDeleteYour forgot a shirt! ;-) Very cute outfit!
ReplyDeleteGood job at getting Polyvore to work...I'm still working on that part.
ReplyDeleteWould love to make these items! I love seeing merchandising that includes handmade pieces.
ReplyDeleteI love your Polyvore outfit, and I'd love this book!
ReplyDeleteLove the hat as it would look great with any outfit!
ReplyDeleteNo shirt under your jacket, how risque! ;) Irrelevant factoid: there is a Pomeranian in my neighborhood named Peanut Butter.
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable. Also I figured since the shirt is irrelevant, I'd save a little space...but hey, we all have those days when we have time for coordinating accessories but no shirt.
Deleteooooh, I hope I win. Would like to knit a few things from this collection.
ReplyDeleteWonderful collection! Who wouldn't want a Springtime Bandit? (Actually, right now I'm just looking for springtime!). Unfortunately, my cats would probably take out the Pomeranian, so I'll leave that for you.
ReplyDeleteI love the collection!
ReplyDeleteI love the collection!
ReplyDeleteLove the collection. We can negotiate about the Pomeranian!
ReplyDeleteFantastic collection, those cozy socks tucked inside those lovely boots...oh my!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love your styling for this hat! My friend has a Pomeranian, I've never known one before but this one acts like being cute is her job and she takes it very seriously. It is adorable. A little small for me but I think a big brown husky could work with this outfit too.
ReplyDeletealligator on ravelry :)
The shirt on the model who's wearing Kiva Hattu...I want that shirt. I want it so bad.
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, yes to the styling!
ReplyDeleteno-o-o-o-oooh to another web thing I didn't know about :)
i love this outfit, and i love the idea of designing your outfit around a handknit hat.
ReplyDeleteThat hat is great!
ReplyDeleteThe puppy really pulls it together :)
ReplyDeleteLove the hat and the dog! Would love to win this.
ReplyDeleteI love the hat!
ReplyDeleteI love the hat!
ReplyDeleteI l-o-v-e those boots! And that jacket--though I have to say, I'm more of a black moto jacket person myself--not that I own one, just that I am always trying them on in stores I can't afford and admiring myself wistfully in the mirror. Oh, and it goes without saying, I love the hat. I could also cover an item of furniture in my house with handmade hats at this point, and I see no sign of stopping the tide.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the dog... can I turn the fur it sheds into yarn? The patterns look great.
ReplyDeleteWould love to knit up a few things from this collection! Your styling is super cute! Heh, the dog is obviously a must.
ReplyDeletesuper cute collection, unfortunately can't wear most of them where I live! I'm in Hawaii, maybe in the wintertime when its cooler.
