Doomsday Knits Kickstarter is Live!

Now, I know I said it would go up on September 1st, but, well, I figured out we could go a day early and still end at the end of September, so... we did!

Please do check it out- even if you're not interested in donating, I hope this will get people excited about the book! We've got some seriously excellent donor rewards, too- particularly if you're a knitter, hehe. This project is the culmination of a lot of dreaming and planning, and I really hope we'll be able to make it truly beautiful :-) I wish I could show you the projects we already have knit- I am so excited about them! The sketches will give you a good idea, though!

I also want to apologize in advance to those of you who follow me on social media and will be tired of hearing about this by the end of the month! Don't worry, it's just until October :-)

Oh and please, tell your friends! Hehe.

Studio Club Peep

I may have mentioned this before, but I am part of Knit Culture's Studio Club this fall (along with Kirsten Kapur and Anne Kuo Lukito! Kirsten's project is already out and so very nice!)

I can't reveal it yet, of course, but I can say this:

1. This might be one of my favorite patterns that I've ever designed.

2. The yarn is both glittery and absolutely scrumptious. SCRUMPTIOUS, BY GOLLY!

So. Yes. You should check that out, particularly if you have loved ones who need to purchase a yarniful gift for you sometime soon, wink wink ;-) (Or a loved one who appreciates yarniful gifts. Or you want to treat yourself to something scrumptious and glittery.)

I'll give you some more telling previews soon!

Doomsday Knits Kickstarter Preview, or "Alex Can't Talk"

(Fair warning, there is some no-no language in this video. But if that bothered you, I probably would've scared you off by now anyway. Aherm.)

Remember that book project I'm working on? We're havin' ourselves a Kickstarter to try and take it to the next level of awesomeness. The Kickstarter goes live September 1st, but in the meantime, please enjoy my making a fool out of myself and having a difficult time saying words. Apparently it makes me stick my tongue out.

Speaking of the book, it's all going pretty darn well so far (knock on wood.) Almost everyone's got their yarn (and some splendid yarn it is! Malabrigo! Tosh! Shibui! Skacel! A bunch of awesome indie dyers!!!) with the last of it being delivered later this week. About half of the projects I'm doing are finished (not yet graded, but I like to leave the fun part til last, y'know) and I've seen some peeks from the other designers as well. I'm SO DARN EXCITED to visit my good pal Vivian who just happens to be the most excellent knits photographer I know (and who will be shooting the book in a variety of strategic Oregonian locations.) It'll be lovely to get back to my old Portland stomping grounds, say hey to the Twisted gang, and see Vivian's new brand new baaaybay. (Though of course she'll be slightly less new by the time I get there.) I've got an ever-growing collection of apocalypsey costumery that I've been picking up wherever I can find a deal. I've even been experimenting with dystopian manicures, which you might be able to see in the video, there.

(Because "manicures" are totally a part of the apocalypse. Yup.)

All in all... chugging along just fine.

(EDIT: Um, I don't know why it automatically launches into another video once it's over. Youtube. Dammit. Come on. Sorry! But if you want to learn to do Dot Stitch... good news!)
