Whew! Been a while, eh? Moving is (pardon my french) a bitch. The internet is finally back, and I'll have to give you a tour of the new place one of these days, but for now... Hood River pictures!
I've been meaning to get over to Hood River for a while, since a yarn store there (Knot Another Hat) carries a bunch of undyed base yarns that I wanted to check out in person before ordering. Travis was more intrigued by the breweries, but in any case, we finally have the same day of the week off, so we traipsed down there yesterday for some yarnin' and beerin'.
First, a tour of the Full Sail brewery. Didn't take a lot of pictures, but it was interesting. Did you know they send all their leftover hops, malt, yeast, etc. to Tillamook to feed the dairy cows that make Tillamook cheese? True story. Those cows are drunks.
And here's a freaky looking dog that was outside:
They give you free pint glasses after the (also free) tour instead of beer. Good deal.
Then we proceeded downtown to check out Knot Another Hat, which didn't have a whole lot in the base yarn department, but did have some freaking amazing colors of malabrigo:
(The Selection Privada is Travis's...he bought himself yarn without any prompting from me! I'm so proud. He bought mine too, because he is super nice. It's Malabrigo Sock in Archangel, a color I've never seen before that is blowing my mind.)
I didn't take any pictures of the shop because I was too busy losing my wits. It's been a while since I've been in a new yarn store (or any yarn store besides the one I work in, really.) We walked around for a little while but it was probably the hottest day so far this year, so hanging around pavement was a little rough.
(Travis looking ticked because I'm taking pictures instead of taking my gelato out of his hand)
A whole store of alpaca stuff!!! I didn't actually go in, since our meter was running low, but it looked intense (and really, really warm. Ack.)
Brewery number 2, Double Mountain. Good pizza!
A seriously delicious beer, and this coming from someone who kind of hates beer. It's some sort of cherry lager.
And of course, a stop at the gorge on the way home (and Travis's turn with the camera)
This could have been a quite lovely picture, if someone hadn't screwed it up by making an intensely stupid face.
aaannd....home (that's the new place behind tardasaurus, there. We live upstairs.)
