Phoncible! Pattern Available

Hooray...number 1 of patterns-for-sale is now up and running. Allow me to introduce you to Phoncible:

You can also see a tester's terribly attractive (slightly more subtly colored) version here, just in case you're not the rainbow-hat-wearing kind of person.

The pattern is available for purchase at my etsy shop.

Or, on Ravelry:

Super Easy Super Pretty Neckwarmer

I seriously use this thing almost every day, now that it's cold. I love the crap out of it. Unfortunately I made it from some random Italian cashmere that my mother brought back from her vacation... so I can't tell you what yarn is best to use. Just pick something DK weight and soft as all hell (may I recommend cashmere? 'Cause you're worth it.)

Gauge is really not very important, here, as long as you're using size 6 needles it will be just fine. But in case you really care, it's approximately 6 st/inch.

CO 32 stitches on size 6 needles
1. s1, knit rest
2. s1, k1, *p2, k2, repeat from star ending with p2

Repeat those two rows until you have about 13 or 14 inches (more if you want...make sure it overlaps comfortably.) Sew on a button about three inches from one side. Make a 4 stitch icord... mine was about 2.5 inches long but you'll want to vary it depending on the size of your button so it doesn't slip. Sew the ends of the icord onto the center of the other end of the neckwarmer. Block flat and enjoy.

Want to add this to your Ravelry queue? Here ya go!

Update-a-roo

Well!

- First of all, I have several new free patterns for you, but I've been crazy-busy and haven't gotten them all photographed up yet. I was hoping to put one or two up before Christmas but, as you can see, I failed.

- Second, it turns out that I need to earn some money NOW, rather than in several years when I actually manage to get a book published, so I've decided to release all the patterns individually. They will probably be sold through etsy initially, but I hear tell of a pretty fancy pattern-downloading-system that Ravelry is cooking up so I may well switch to that later. Links-a-plenty as soon as that's up and running.

-Today I learned about design/mood boards! I am maybe going to start using them, and that is exciting. I'll show you guys pictures. I realize this news is only exciting to me, but honestly that's probably true of the rest of it too, so it's ok.

- On a more personal front...it's back to school for me in a few days (albeit a different school this semester than the norm) so I'm probably underestimating how busy I'll be, but I've resolved to spend more time actually working at my crafty pursuits instead of dicking around online and daydreaming about them... look forward to (I hope) a serious increase in picture quality and model diversity. I hope. We'll see. (Secretly I'm hoping they have a photo studio available for student use but I don't know that yet. Err.)

And that, my friends, is that. I know I'm slow, but bear with me :-)
